    Lunch with Brent Turner

    With the fate of our democracy at stake in the 2024 elections, our good friend Brent Turner will join us to provide an update on election system security and what can be done to protect the vote.

    A community activist for housing, civil rights, and environmental issues, Brent was instrumental in the creation of the San Francisco County Voting Systems Task Force and has been a director of communications for Open Voting Consortium. He has been recognized as a groundbreaking activist for sustainability, and dedicates himself to local, state, and federal voting rights issues.

    Lunch with Dr. Angelica Cortez

    Dr. Angelica Cortez is a Queer activist and organizer with a background in public policy and advocacy. Voted as a Silicon Valley 40 Under 40 and Woman of Influence, she is the Founder and Executive Director of LEAD Filipino and Senior Vice President of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) at Pacific Clinics, the largest mental and behavioral health nonprofit service provider in California. 



    Starting her career in organizing and local government, she spent over a decade working on issues of civil and human rights with advocacy groups and legislators from Sacramento, San José, to Los Angeles. In 2020, she became the first Vice President of Racial Justice & Equity for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group — and in 2021, she joined Pacific Clinics as their first Senior Vice President of JEDI.

    In 2015, she founded LEAD Filipino, a rising nonprofit organization honored as “Community Organization of the Year” in California State Senate District 10 for their regional civic programs and campaigns. Under her leadership, the organization has grown to serve thousands of youth and families across the Northern California region and state in critical civic empowerment and community development programs and campaigns. 



    She is a graduate of San José State University and holds her doctorate from the University of Southern California. She resides in East San José.

    Annual Member Meeting

    Join us for the D21stCC Annual Member Meeting! We'll enjoy a free lunch, reflect on the year we've had, and look forward to all we're doing to secure victories for Democratic candidates and values up and down the ballot. All current and prospective members are welcome!

    This year, for the first time, we're meeting at the Santa Clara County Democratic Party Headquarters in San José. Your membership dues allow us to contribute more than $20,000 a year to help pay the rising rent on this year-round hub of Democratic action and activity. We're excited to show it off to you!
